Here’s a sneak peek of some of the art for the silent auction!
This year HPIC’s Uncorked will be having a silent auction featuring hyper-local artists.  These local artists have all generously donated their time and art.  All money from the auction will go towards club improvements.  Come to Uncorked  to see what other artists in the neighborhood have donated!

This event just keeps getting bigger and better. We encourage you to register early, as we always sell out during preregistration.

Our annual winetasting fundraiser is growing up, inspired by the proliferation of wonderful local wineries in our neighborhood! Now, instead of you bringing the wine, we will featuring some superb wines from 8 local wineries. All the wine will be provided for you.

Upon entrance, you will receive a commemorative wineglass for tasting. You will be invited to enjoy tastings from the Northwest Wine Academy, while you peruse the raffle baskets and purchase raffle tickets. You can gaze upon the art donated by local artists, whose work will be available to bidding on through our new Silent Art Auction. As always, an array of excellent, gourmet food will be provided for your noshing pleasure.

During the wine tasting, you’ll get an opportunity to taste a variety of wines provided by 8 local wineries. Tables will enjoy a fun and enlightening journey that challenges them to identify the varietals poured, as well as the top wines of the evening. Each table will have an opportunity to walk away with some great prizes! Following the tasting, a select amount of the wines presented for tasting will be available for purchase by the glass, or by the bottle (to take home) at a discounted rate. And, for the beer-lovers who attend, we will be selling a selection of quality beers.

Adding to the fun this year, we present Wine Roulette, where you purchase a chance to win a high-value bottle of wine for the bargain price of a ticket.

Our annual winetasting event is a big fundraiser for the club, and all the money received goes to support building and site improvements. Last year, we made sidewalk replacements required by the city after the installation of our donated courtyard, and roof repairs to accommodate our donated solar panels. This year we will be installing fencing to enclose the courtyard for safety and to extend the bar outside, and signature signage will be installed on the building, reflecting the identity and character of HPIC and our neighborhood.

When should I arrive? Be sure to preregister to ensure that you have a seat and then arrive no later than 6:50, after which time your seat may be given to someone else. But arrive earlier and enjoy the food and wine tasting available. If you do not preregister, then you should be there as early as possible and hope that seating is still available. Doors open at 5:30 pm.

What if I don’t preregister? The $50 per person suggested donation at the door will be appreciated if we are not sold out. Please do not plan on this.

Here’s a sneak peek of some of the wineries we’re so excited to be pouring for you at our event!
The Northwest Wine Academy & Ancestry Cellars! Reggie with NWWA and Jason & Erin Morin at Ancestry Cellars have been amazing sponsors and supporters of our fundraiser (and HPIC) for many years, and we are so glad to have their continued support.
We also are pleased to be supported by Bart at Bartholomew Winery again!
New wineries this year that we are excited about: Bill at William Grassie Wine Estates, and Jeff with Davenport Cellars!

Why did the price go up? Last year the price was $25 in advance, plus you needed to bring a bottle of wine that cost $15 or less; $25 + $15 = $40. So the cost has really stayed the same, but we are saving you the trouble of shopping for that wine and keeping it at the right temperature. While tasting wines brought by your neighbors was fun, it also meant tasting some wines that were too warm or just were not a bargain at any price. We had to make this change, due to our new liquor license, but we believe it will result in a more enjoyable experience for you.

HPIC Corner Bar Welcomes Back McTuff and DJ Dr. Lehl! – This Friday 5/6

Friday, May 6th, doors open at 6 pm.

HPIC is back in full operation! The “eyebrow” awning is completely removed and the dumpster will be gone shortly. Corner Bar, Uncorked, and all events are on!

DJ Rich will be setting the mood until 7 pm, between band sets and after McTuff is done.

Green Guidance – Walking or bicycling to the event is encouraged. It’s green, it makes the neighbors happier and provides a safe walk home!

Parental Guidance – There are toys and games set up on tables. Parents, please be aware of your child’s activities.  Activities such as ball throwing and chasing games are discouraged.

Our 8th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser is coming up on Saturday, May 21! If you have wanted to volunteer or be a sponsor, now is your chance.

Food: Prepare and deliver something savory or sweet in 75+ individual one-two bite sized pieces to HPIC kitchen day of the event. Every year attendees of the event think that our delicious hors d’ouevres and small bites are prepared by professional caterers. But they are prepared by a cadre of Highland Park/Riverview foodies, and if you are one, join the fun. If you don’t have time to cook but you want to help, we will happily accept donations of money towards food. We can also help if you would like to cook, but need some assistance with the expense.

Servers: We need people that have their MAST permit or are willing to get one very soon. With great wine comes great responsibility.

Set-up: Friday, May 20th from 5pm-7pm. Move tables and chairs, put on tablecloths and other table accoutrements, help with final touches.

HPIC is back open for SOME business!

The debris from the fallen awning is cleaned up, a support post was put under the awning next to Holden and repairs were made to the handrails. We are now back open for classes and meetings. We still have a large dumpster in the middle of the parking lot for removal of the awning on the Holden side. We hope to have that awning removed soon but, until it is, we are not going to be able to support any large rentals or Corner Bar. Hopefully, we will get the rest of the awning removed very soon, as none of us want to miss Corner Bar!

No HPIC Work Party on Sunday

Thanks to all that helped!  We just wrapped it up. There will not be a work party tomorrow. Many hands made light work! We do have a small pile of metal next to the large dumpster in case anyone is interested in saving us from cutting it up to size for the recycle bin! It is yours for the taking.

We are also putting out the call for a bonded contractor to remove the awning that has not fallen. We are hoping to hire someone from the neighborhood.

Help for “Eyebrow” Un-raising

 

Thanks to all of you who offered to help – Yes! A dumpster will be delivered tomorrow morning to receive the sawed up remnants of the Eyebrow!
Starting at 11am Saturday, Sunday tbd depending on how much gets done Saturday.

Skills/tools needed: Sawzall, circular saw, long extension cords, gloves, eye protection, and ear protection if you want. The structure needs to be cut up and then placed into the dumpster in such a way that it holds all the material. There will be lots of nails poking out, so tough clothing, shoes and gloves highly recommended. If you want to bring snacks, that’s great too.

And even if you want to just stop by – please do, and cheer on the Eyebrow Un-Raising!
