Meet the new HPIC Board!

 

Elections were held at the last HPIC Board meeting, with the board being sworn in by Martha. Pictured from left to right is Nickie Jostol (Secretary), Billy Stauffer (Trustee), Rhonda Smith (President), Julie Schickling (Treasurer), Christie Sjostrom (Trustee), Blair Johnson (Trustee), Martha Mallet (Board Member Emeritus – performed the swearing in), Kay Kirkpatrick (Trustee) and Theresa Beaulieu (Trustee).

Karaoke at Corner Bar! – This Friday 3/6

Friday, March 6th, doors open at 6 pm.

Karaoke begins at 7:30, so practice up! You can confirm your favorite songs will be available by checking Baby Ketten’s songbook at babykettenkaraoke.com or book.babyketten.com. We were having some difficulty with the first link and added the second one which goes straight to their songbook.

HPIC has sidewalk repairs over the next two weeks. We will do our best to have the parking lot accessible, but walking is always encouraged.

Green Guidance – Walking or bicycling to the event is encouraged. It’s green, it makes the neighbors happier and provides a safe walk home!

Parental Guidance – There are toys and games set up on tables. Parents, please be aware of your child’s activities.  Activities such as ball throwing and chasing games are discouraged.

Movie Night this Friday – February 20

Doors open at 6:00 pm  with a children’s short at 6:15 and the main movie at 7. Free admission. Volunteers will be selling popcorn, candy and other movie fare. Bring blankets and pillows or sit in our chairs. This is an all ages event. Bring your friends, family and neighbors.

HPIC Corner Bar Welcomes back the Yada Yada Blues Band! – This Friday 2/6

Friday, February 6th, doors open at 6 pm. Yes, we have the blues.

DJ Rich is playing the music of New Orleans/ Mardi Gris / Louisiana from 6 to 9 PM. At 9 PM we have the great Yada Yada Blues Band who will once again feature the sounds of the Hammond B3 organ, this time manned by the famous Joe Doria.

HPIC Tailgate Party this Sunday – February 1st!

Come join your 12th neighbors in celebrating your favorite team, no matter which one that is.  No deflating of egos here!  Bring snacks or a dish to share, and bring your own beverages.  Doors open at 2:00 PM, tailgating (i.e. massive food consumption) starts at 2:30, game time is 3:30.

This is an all ages event. HPIC is an inclusive organization, so everyone is welcome at HPIC, no matter who you are rooting for.

HPIC Nominated for Sustainability Leadership Award

We are honored to have been nominated for an award from Sustainable Seattle for Transforming Spaces.

With the help of Rainwise, Sustainable Seattle, King County Green Grants, DePave, and a lot of community volunteers, this community hub in Southwest Seattle transformed an asphalt parking lot into a permeable courtyard surrounded by plantings. The transformation also includes a 120′ long community blueberry and huckleberry hedge, a cistern, and two raingardens, with a community designed and created mosaic bench telling the story of stormwater in the works.
