We’re happy to announce our Movie Nights program! See flyer here.

We plan to have a Movie Night every third Friday of the month, with films suitable for families. Admission will be free. Popcorn, candy and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Adults are free to bring beverages of their choice.

Upcoming Movie Night is Friday, Feb 18. Doors open at 6:30pm, movie starts at 7.

Our movie license does not allow us to publish the movie title, so here’s a hint:
Classic 1982 kid and adult friendly sci-fi blockbuster starring Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore.

Movies will be shown in the dance hall, with chairs available for seating. Or, bring blankets, pillows, folding chairs (that won’t scratch the floor) and camp out on the floor!

The Highland Park Improvement Club is run by an all-volunteer group of Highland Park and Riverview neighbors. As stewards of the building and property, we are developing new programs and uses for this important corner gathering spot. Our goal is to benefit the neighborhood while sustaining the club as a resource. Toward that end, we are working on a new business plan. Here’s an important beginning:

Hey Neighbor,

If you want to have some fun this New Years Eve, Highland Park is the place to be!
Bang on a drum or shake your tambourine as you travel along with the second annual “Not So Silent Night Parade”.
March along with us on a 20-30 minute trip through Highland Park, making just enough noise to remind our neighbors that it’s New Years Eve.

After the parade, watch as “Cirque de Flambe” performers entertain the crowd in the Highland Park Improvement Club parking lot with the exciting “Sage Comet” (thanks to West Seattle Blog!)

We will be passing out hot cider and cookies and have a little fire pit going to keep you warm.

Details:
Parade goers will meet at the HP Improvement Club, 1116 SW Holden St. at 6:45 Friday night for a 7:00 sharp departure.
Everybody Welcome!
Return to HPIC at 7:30 for the performance in the parking lot.
Bring a noise maker (tambourine, bells, pots and spoons, etc).
Dress warm ’cause we are going, rain or moon-shine, and you may want to bring a flashlight and an umbrella! (or even better a flashlight taped inside an umbrella, so it glows!)
Bring the kids in their strollers and your friendly dogs on their leashes.

We need a few volunteers to help direct traffic and keep the parade marchers safe.

A Warm Tradition – The Holiday Potluck Dinner & Dance – Sat Dec 11
This is a time for a reunion with old friends and to meet some new friends,
while we gather gifts for neighbors in need.
Admission is a potluck dish for dinner, your beverage of choice,
plus donations for our local Foodbanks, and WestSide Baby and/or Toys for Tots.
Potluck dinner/byob cocktails begin at 6pm.
Dancing begins at 8, with music by old favorites Evan and Charlie Brown.
