Street Tree Saga and New Green Initiative

The last of our two Crape Myrtles was run over July 1 by an out of control driver on Holden – see the West Seattle Blog coverage here .

But we are not giving up on softening some of our hard surfaces. We are excited that Sustainable Seattle is working with us to bring a Rain Garden to our parking lot. A Rain Garden could help to mitigate some of the runoff from our roof and parking lot. Also, with the collaboration of Sustainable Seattle and HPAC, a Rain Garden at HPIC would help educate the neighborhood about storm water and air quality issues, and provide a demonstration of possible solutions.

The First Corner Bar

Thanks to KOMO and all of you who were there at our very first Corner Bar: check out KOMO’s video here. The video is true – we had a great time. Save the date for the next Corner BarFriday, August 3!

The Corner Bar

Friday, July 6, starting at 6pm – help us initiate what we hope will be a monthly Corner Bar at HPIC. Draft beer, wine and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available at our pop-up neighborhood bar. A casual and friendly way to meet new friends and hang out with people you know. $3 gets you a beer or glass of wine, $1 for non-alcoholic beverages. We will have snacks like peanuts and pretzels – if you want more, bring your own or something to share.
