“Robot Sunsets are an ever-tightening performance outfit, featuring the inimitable Lars Larson on drums (he has a kick cowbell, y’all), the embarrassingly talented David Russell on bass (we have more bass solos than guitar solos), the musical mastermind of Jason Puccinelli on guitar and vocals (he’s got more jam than Smuckers’ got jelly), and Jed Dunkerley, singing lead and writhing around (to quote Evan Mosher after our last show: ‘…like a combination of Tom Jones and David Byrne.’) The music of Robot Sunsets will get you laughing and thinking while wanting to dance.

Celebrating our Centennial by the decade! The next installment brings the 60s (1959 – 1968) into (or out of) focus. So dress accordingly, come in character, borrow colorful 60s props, and pose for photos in our classy booth. Check out the splendid June installment of the HPIC Decade Banners – a new graphic design montage on display each month at Corner Bar, to help us get immersed in those fabulous bygone times. It’s the living end! Thanks to our inspired volunteers – Dina Johnson, Kay Kirkpatrick, Julie Schickling, and other special contributors – that have put so much effort into documenting our history in such a way.

10AM to 2PM

Spring is here and we’re calling on all our incredible volunteers!  HPIC is ready to emerge from the dreary winter and freshen up the club!  This is a perfect opportunity to roll up your sleeves and help us prepare the club for warmer weather.  Even an hour of your time is greatly appreciated.

We’ll be cleaning and organizing stuff around the building, repairing a window, gardening, cleaning the table & chairs (with a pressure washer! It’ll be fun!), and will also sport safety vests to do some neighborhood pickup. We have tasks for all ages and abilities, we just appreciate your help. Get HPIC ready for the summer ahead. Students looking for volunteer hours, and families Welcome!  Dress appropriately, bring your garden gloves and any tools you can.

And YES, there will be food!!! We’ll have coffee and donuts in the AM, and will be grilling up some delicious food in the afternoon to feed all your generous souls that come out to help.

Together, we make Highland Park the BEST place to live.

Our exploration of Corner Bar takes us to the heart of the solar system. Energy crackles, fusion unleashes, galaxies are born and destroyed. A futuristic guitar unlocks the gateway and releases the possibilities the future holds. The man with the keys will be our guide through the quantum wilderness. The drummer will push and pull us across the spectrum of the fourth dimension. Adventure awaits those who cross the threshold.

Make sure your friends and neighbors do not miss the unique opportunity presented this first friday. A tale to be remembered for the ages. Your guides into the mist are Joe Doria (keys), Ari Joshua (guitar), and Brad Gibson (drums). Watch, listen, as they harness the forces of the universe. Believe!

Our 11th annual Uncorked Fundraiser is on May 18th this year, and tickets go on sale at the April Corner Bar on 4/5! More details to come, but stop by the swag table at Corner Bar to get your tickets!

Celebrating our Centennial by the decade! The next installment brings the 30s into the picture. We have a combination of fabulous talents providing the soundtrack to another Corner Bar. Old Man Millis will spin shellac from years of old. Presenting the sounds that began to creep into the general collective experience.

HYWAYS will ride the road that was paved in the countryside, through the farmlands, and out to the west. Their country visions provide the soundtrack and push us along the landscape that is recalled from the not so distant past.

Help us gather with our neighbors and friends in pushing on through the hard times in order to come out on the other side. Reborn and refreshed.
